Healthy Neighborhoods Preventive Health Cornerstones program will award funding to city or county health departments to establish Healthy Neighborhood Programs that work to improve home environments and reduce residential health hazards. Programs should place an emphasis on reducing residential injuries, childhood lead poisoning, hospitalizations due to asthma, and exposure to indoor air pollutants.

Since rural areas of New York have a significantly higher fire death rate and a higher concentration of socioeconomically disadvantaged populations, applications from rural city and county health departments are encouraged.
Only county and city health departments, with environmental health staff, are eligible to apply.
2018 letters of Intent were to be submitted by September 24, 2018. 2018 applications were to be submitted by November 2, 2018. 2019 applications were due September 13, 2019. Similar deadlines are anticipated, annually.
