    The AthLife Foundation grants funds and provides resources by building strong partnerships with school districts, schools, community agencies, corporations, foundations, and individual donors that:
    • Target deserving students in challenged communities to help ensure the right kind of sport experience;
    • Create and sustain professional academic-athletic coach/mentor positions in schools;
    • Produce best practice strategies and effective resources for a national platform; 
    • Deliver quality training and professional development opportunities for school personnel;
    • Activate service learning for student-athletes to develop valuable life and leadership skills.

  • Eligibility Details

    School Districts and Highschools from Durham, North Carolina; New York, New York; Nashville, Tennessee; and Houston, Texas may apply in 2021-2022. The Foundation is also open to supporting the following areas: Baltimore, Maryland; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; New York City, New York; Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia & Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Nashville, Tennesee; and Houston, Texas.

    Schools that traditionally serve students from; lower socioeconomic public, non-public, Tribal/BIE schools, schools with statistically lower graduation rates, lower post-secondary matriculation rates and higher percentages of students from single or no-parent households are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Award Details

    The Foundation will provide grants of up to $10,000 for the 2016-17 academic year to support the creation and maintenance of a professional year-round academic-athletic support position.
