    Summary

    The George and Fay Young Foundation was founded as a charitable trust in 1985 and incorporated in 1993. Long-time Dallasites, George and Fay Young believed strongly in giving back to the community which had given so much to each of them. Their legacy is carried on by second and third generation family members working at the Foundation. As the assets have grown, the Foundation continues to honor the memory of George and Fay Young by giving to many of the same types of organizations they supported. They have also expanded to reach more people in today's ever-changing community. The Foundation has identified the following areas of focus:

    1. Education: (a) Scholarship: traditional/non-traditional programs providing students with greater opportunities toward advancement; (b) Arts and Culture: hands on programs using art as a catalyst for learning and inspiration; and (c) Environmental Advocacy: programs promoting preservation of the environment and its natural resources;
    2. Individuals, Family, and Community Intervention: (a) Domestic Violence: programs working to break destructive cycles and promote positive change; and (b) At Risk Populations: fostering self-reliance for indigent individuals and families, equipping them with skills and knowledge to create healthy and successful lives;
    3. Animal Rescue and Awareness: Support for shelters, abuse, interventions, veterinary assistance and service animals; and
    4. Healthcare: Programs supporting mental and physical aid to individuals unable to provide proper care for themselves or family members.
