    Summary

    Charge Ahead Colorado was developed to incentivize the widespread adoption of electric vehicles and provide geographically dispersed installation of EV charging stations at key locations to address the charging concerns of the motoring public.


    Objectives of Charge Ahead Colorado:

    • Promote the installation of electric vehicle charging stations throughout Colorado.
    • Increase the number of electric vehicles purchased in Colorado.
    • Reduce harmful air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions associated with gasoline and diesel vehicles.
    • Gather data on charging stations to better understand their usage.
    • Support implementation of the Colorado Electric Vehicle Plan.


    Eligible costs are limited to the following:

    • Charging station and related equipment (Level I charging stations are not an eligible project)
    • Construction materials
    • Permits ? Construction labor costs associated with the equipment purchase and installation of Level II or DCFC charging units
    • Utility and electric upgrades such as new transformers, or upgrades to transformers, breaker boxes, and electrical panels
    • Signage
    • Networking/subscription fees and activation fees

    Successful applicants must address how their project achieves two or more of these objectives. Applicants should clearly describe how their organization and their proposed project is uniquely suited to meet these program objectives. Applicants should describe how their proposed project aligns with internal goals of their organizations, such as connections to local government or company sustainability plans.

  • Eligibility Details

    Eligible applicants include public, private and non-profit organizations. Eligible applicants include local governments, school districts, state/federal agencies, non-profit organizations, apartment/condominium complexes, and businesses that own multi-vehicle parking facilities that provide fleet, public, employee or guest/visitor parking. No priority is given based on organization type.

    Deadline Details

    Applications are to be submitted by February, 7, 2022 by 5pm (MST). It is expected that Charge Ahead Colorado will open application rounds at least three times per year. Application dates will be posted on the Clean Air Fleets website. at https://cleanairfleets.org/

    Award Details

    RAQC and CEO have funding to pay up to 80% of the cost of a charging station, up to the total amounts listed below:

    • Level 2, Fleet Only Charging Stations: $6,000
    • Level 2, Dual Port Station (up to 25kW): $9,000
    • Level 3, Multiple Connection Standard Station (minimum 50kW+): $35,000
    • Level 3, Ultra-fast Multiple Connection Standard Station (minimum 100kW+): $50,000 (limited availability at the discretion of the awarding agency)

    Cost match requirement is 20%.
