The purpose of the Texas Fund for Geography Education program is to provide funding to eligible institutions of higher education to support geography education within the state and to improve geography literacy in the K-12 environment.

The latter may include, but not be limited to, school district(s), individual schools/teachers, regional education service center(s), public and private entities.
Unencumbered funds may not carry over beyond the grant period unless specifically authorized by the National Geographic Society (NGS) in consultation with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
Eligible applicants are public and independent institutions of higher education in Texas.
Applications must be postmarked by September 4, 2015 or hand-delivered to the Coordinating Board’s office by 5:00 PM Eastern Standard Time (EST), September 4, 2015. Applications must also be received electronically to [email protected] by 5:00 PM, September 4, 2015.
Approximately $86,506 is anticipated to be available in total funding for FY16. The maximum grant award is $40,000 over a one year period.
