    The Mary Morton Parsons Foundation welcomes proposals for permanent, capital projects from non-profit organizations involved in:
    • Arts and Culture
    • Civic and Community Needs
    • Education
    • Environment and Ecology
    • Historic Preservation
    • Social Services and Welfare

     

    History of Funding

    To date, the Foundation has awarded approximately $73 million to qualified grantees. Past grants are available at: http://www.mmparsonsfoundation.org/past-grants/.

    Additional Information

    The Foundation will not consider grant requests:
    • to support individuals;
    • to support endowment funds (including scholarship funds, debt reduction, or funding of deficits);
    • to support research;
    • to support general operating expenses associated with on-going programs or activities or other general administrative expenses;
    • to support churches or religious programs without a secular or community service focus; except for the repair of damage resulting from fire, flood or other catastrophe.  Applicants must demonstrate that efforts were made to raise the necessary funds from the congregation and other normal sources of support with little potential of success.

    • from local chapters of national associations and societies.

  • Eligibility Details

    Organizations which are tax-exempt under IRS Section 501(c)(3) and located in and around Richmond receive the foundation's highest priority. Organizations having a statewide presence that significantly benefit Richmond and Central Virginia will also be considered.  

    Deadline Details

    Annual grant deadlines are March 15 and September 15.

    Award Details

    Typically, grants through the Mary Morton Parsons Foundation fund not more than 50% of a project’s cost. Grant awards are made on a challenge or matching basis.
