    Summary

Helping to create healthy communities is the cornerstone of the Amerigroup Foundation's mission. The objective is to serve as a national resource that fosters an environment where there is a continuum of education, access and care, all of which improve the health and well-being of the financially vulnerable and uninsured Americans.

The foundation supports programs designed to foster access to healthcare; encourage safe and healthy children and families; and promote community improvement and healthy neighborhoods. Special emphasis is directed toward programs designed to serve the financially disadvantaged, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Ensure Access to Care and Services: The foundation supports programs designed to ensure individuals have the right to see a doctor or service provider at the right time, including innovations in care and service delivery; free health services to the underinsured and the uninsured; and the provision of key health services not provided by Medicaid and/or Medicare.

Foster Independence: The foundation supports programs designed to assist seniors and people with disabilities to live more independent, healthier lives, including access to transportation, housing, employment, recreational, social and activity programming, food and nutrition, and caregiver support and education.

Promote Health and Wellness: The foundation supports programs designed to improve overall health and reduce health disparities through prevention, cultural competency, timely immunizations, and wellness initiatives.

Supporting Healthy Babies: The foundation supports programs designed to help mothers-to-be deliver healthy babies on time and reduce premature births and infant mortalities through early prenatal care and other risk reduction strategies.
