Grant Details

The foundation has four main areas of interest for funding:

1. Meeting the greatest needs of communities in Arkansas, Nevada and Oklahoma, primarily through improved facilities for their outstanding local nonprofit organizations;
2. accelerating the fight against atherosclerosis and atherosclerotic heart disease through cutting-edge, translational research;
3. Improving the quality of life of America's growing elderly population through better training of physicians in geriatrics; and
4. Enhancing the quality and integrity of journalism, focusing particularly on better training of journalists who serve smaller communities and on business journalism.

Current programs being funded are:

1. Aging & Quality of Life - by invitation only;
2. Journalism - Unsolicited proposals are rarely approved;
3. Cardiovascular Clinical Research - This initiative is closing, and new grants will not be considered;
4. Charitable Food Initiative - Unsolicited proposals are not accepted;
5. Children's Discovery Initiative - Unsolicited proposals are not accepted;
6. Women's Shelter Initiative - This initiative is closing, and new grants will not be considered.

The foundation will accept brief proposals that fall outside of the established programs for their Special Projects initiative. Unsolicited proposal are rarely funded. Brief proposals may be sent to the Foundation, addressed to the attention of Special Projects.
