    Summary

The WHO Foundation: Women Helping Others(R) nationally supports grass-roots charities serving the overlooked needs of women and children. Grants are provided to organizations serving women and/or children in the United States and Puerto Rico. Specific projects and programs addressing health and social service needs are the Foundation's priority. Grants are provided for critical health programs, social services, and education projects that give women and children the knowledge and tools they need to improve their lives. Examples of funded programs include food and shelter for the homeless, healthcare for the poor, after-school programs, career training for under-employed women, and domestic violence prevention programs. The Foundation recognizes the value of new programs created to respond to changing needs and will consider funding projects of an original or pioneering nature within an existing organization. In addition to nationally supporting community-focused charities that serve the overlooked needs of women, children and families, the Foundation has instituted a new initiative towards literacy education. Projects of interest may include, but are not limited to, those that accomplish such things as providing low-income pre-schoolers with books to providing high school dropouts opportunities to obtaining job training. Refer to http://www.whofoundation.org/WhoWeAre_mission.htm for additional descriptions of funded projects. Funding requests must meet the funding criteria: General Grants: http://whofoundation.org/WHO_FundingCriteria.htm; Education and Literacy Grants: http://www.whofoundation.org/WHO_FundingCriteriaEd.htm.
